Pudgy Party Shuts Down as Pudgy Penguins Shifts Focus to Pudgy World

Pudgy Party, a mobile battle royale game themed after Pudgy Penguins, was abruptly shut down on Friday after less than a year of operation, becoming unavailable on iOS and Android. The Pudgy Penguins team cited a strategic shift to focus on Pudgy World, a web-based game described as "fully ours" and the flagship gaming product of the brand. Developed in collaboration with Mythical Games (maker of FIFA Rivals and NFL Rivals), Pudgy Party launched globally in August 2025 and allowed players to mint and trade in-game items as NFTs. Despite millions of downloads and winning Decrypt's GG Game of the Year 2025, CEO Luca Netz disclosed that the company lost millions supporting the project, confirming the accuracy of the statement via a spokesperson. Pudgy World, a spiritual successor to Club Penguin, runs on Abstract, an Ethereum layer-2 network. Following the announcement, the PENGU token rose over 10% to $0.0072 amid a market rebound, though it remains down nearly 15% in the past month. Pudgy Party joins a growing list of blockchain games shuttered in 2025-2026, including Deadrop, Nyan Heroes, and MetalCore, amid declining player interest and funding challenges. On Sunday, Fishing Frenzy on Ronin also announced its closure, set for June 25.
