JPMorgan Adds 5 Asian Currencies to Kinexys Blockchain Payments
J.P. Morgan expanded its Kinexys blockchain payments platform to support eight currencies, adding the Australian dollar, Hong Kong dollar, Japanese yen, Chinese renminbi, and Singapore dollar to the existing U.S. dollar, euro, and British pound. The platform uses a permissioned blockchain to settle tokenized bank deposits, enabling 24/7 cross-border payments and foreign exchange for institutional clients. Kinexys has processed over $4 trillion in transactions, with average daily volume exceeding $7 billion. The expansion deepens JPMorgan's presence in the Asia-Pacific region, where cross-border trade and FX activity are high. Payoneer is among the first clients using the Australian dollar service, while JERA Global Markets uses the Japanese yen account. The platform does not involve cryptocurrencies but digitizes traditional deposits within the regulated banking system.
