Ethlabs Launches with Backing from Largest Corporate ETH Holders

Five former Ethereum Foundation researchers have launched Ethlabs, an independent nonprofit research and development organization, backed by major corporate ETH holders SharpLink Gaming and Bitmine Immersion Technologies, as well as Consensys CEO and Ethereum co-founder Joe Lubin. The initiative comes amid a wave of high-level departures from the Ethereum Foundation, including that of co-executive director Hsiao-Wei Wang. Ethlabs aims to advance a 'multi-node' development model, where independent entities share responsibility for Ethereum's evolution. Initial focus areas include faster transaction settlement, scaling capacity, and improving infrastructure for tokenized assets and stablecoins. The organization will maintain independence through external grant administration, with all research published openly.
