Coinbase and OKX Offer Bonuses to Lure Binance Users After MiCA Suspension

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and OKX founder Star Xu announced sign-up bonuses for new European users after Binance suspended some services in the EU due to the lack of a MiCA license by the July 1 deadline. Coinbase, MiCA-licensed since 2025, offers a 5% transfer bonus for users in Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Sweden, and the UK moving funds before July 13. OKX launched one of its biggest welcome campaigns for eligible EEA users, including bonuses and deposit matching up to 8%. Binance informed clients it would restrict services and accept no new registrations in the EU, but assured asset safety and stated it would seek a MiCA license soon. This move highlights the competitive landscape as MiCA regulation takes full effect, driving exchanges without licenses to wind down activities while licensed ones capitalize on user migration.
