Alchemy's AgentCard Integrates with Visa for AI Agent Payments
Blockchain infrastructure firm Alchemy announced that its AgentCard, a virtual ID and spending card for AI agents, now integrates with Visa's Intelligent Commerce network. This integration allows AI agents built on models from OpenAI, Anthropic, or any provider to perform online transactions on behalf of consumers—such as booking vacations, ordering groceries, or renewing subscriptions—without human intervention. The agents use Visa-issued tokens, preserving rewards, credit lines, and card benefits without creating new accounts. Each AgentCard comes with a dedicated email address and phone number, providing a complete identity layer for agent operations. This move is part of a broader trend where payment processors like Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe are driving into agentic commerce. Alchemy's CEO Nikil Viswanathan noted that AI agents represent the next major economic shift, similar to the internet and mobile app economies.
